DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP: A little light trade started on Tuesday 
in the North last week, but the bulk of transactions were 
done on Wednesday and Thursday. Northern dressed business had 
a full range of $194 to $202, mostly $195, about $3 lower 
than the previous weeks weighted average basis Nebraska. 
(Note that many of the dressed sales in Nebraska were set for 
delivery the weeks of August 2nd and August 16th). Southern 
live deals had a full range of $117 to $120, mostly $119, 
roughly $1 lower than the prior week's trade. According to 
Thursday's Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle Summary reports the 
accumulated weekly average price totals are as follows (the 
prior week's weighted averages are listed in parentheses): KS 
$119.02($119.86); NE $195.69 ($198.32); TX $118.78($119.64); 
IA $197.96($197.25); CO not available due to confidentiality. 

According to the Friday Afternoon Daily Direct Slaughter 
Cattle reports weekly trade volume totals were as follows: KS 
12,882; NE 23,712; TX 6,182; IA 20,575, CO not available due 
to confidentiality. Friday's slaughter totaled 114,000 head, 
4,000 less than the prior week but 3,000 more than the 
previous year. Saturday's kill was estimated at 71,000 head, 
bringing the weekly total to 652,000 head, 1,000 below the 
week before, but 7,000 greater than 2020.

DTN MORNING COMMENTS: Another typically quiet Monday morning 
with both buyers and sellers busy taking inventory. Bids and 
asking prices are not established as of yet. Significant trade 
volume will likely be delayed until Wednesday or later. Beef 
cutouts are expected to be higher with generally light box 

For the week ending July 17, 2021, Imported Beef Passed for 
Entry in the U.S. totaled 43,770, 110.58% of the previous week 
and 100.91% of the 4-week average.
